Founder

John attended Charlotte Country Day School and then the University of North Carolina. He ran a furniture and millwork plant in South Carolina, selling product all over the United States. He returned to Charlotte in 2009 to begin a career in the construction industry. He brings years of hands on experience in woodwork, installation and a business background. He has always had an eye for detail and it is reflected in his vision for Bourgeois McGinn. He seeks perfection and his goal for Bourgeois McGinn from its inception was to build a firm deserving of the high end residential market. John will always put integrity and quality before his bottom line. This has brought him a high percentage of repeat business. When not working, John enjoys hunting, fishing, exercise and spending time with his wife and two children. 

 Founder

Having grown up in the historic Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, Mac learned the construction trade from a family of true craftsmen. He founded Interior Concepts Unlimited and for many years built some of the finest cabinetry in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. Mac has an eye for classical shapes and proportions that simply cannot be taught, and he insists they are carried out. He is often even more particular than the client. Wanting to leverage his experience, he co-founded Bourgeois McGinn Builders. He brings a level of craftsmanship to our team that is second to none. Mac is in charge of Field Operations where his expertise sets our work apart. It doesn’t matter how Mac’s day is going, the smile on his face will improve yours. He is uniquely delightful to work with, a trait anyone that has the opportunity is sure to remember. In his spare time, Mac enjoys hunting, fishing, camping or anything at all with his wife and three children. 

Designer

Emily grew up loving beautiful things with a deep seeded desire to understand what makes them different. She earned degrees in Math and Fine Art from Agnes Scott College. She studied architecture at The Prince of Wales Institute in London, one of few programs remaining that offers a romantic approach to the built environment. Upon completion, she attended the Institute of Classical Architecture in NYC to hone hand drawing skills and further understand the role Classical Architecture plays in beauty through proportion and appropriateness. Her work has brought her wonderful clients for over seventeen years, many with the same desire to understand beauty. The common thread is a love of honest materials used in unpretentious ways and executed with superb craftsmanship. She joined Bourgeois McGinn in 2018 for the opportunity to work exclusively with a team dedicated to these elegant principles. In her free time, Emily enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, travel and hiking in the NC mountains. 

Senior Accountant 

Originally from rural Illinois, Brandy always knew she wanted to migrate to a bigger city. She graduated Cum Lade from Aurora University, located in the suburbs of Chicago, with a Bachelors Degree in Business and Communications. After graduating, she moved around the Midwest until 2016, then she, her husband, and their three dogs landed in Denver, NC. She has a diverse background in accounting that she gained through her 10 years in the manufacturing and construction industry. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and friends on the lake, hiking with the dogs, reading, or traveling back to Illinois for visits with friends and family.

Office Manager / Selections Coordinator 

Blythe is a North Carolina native and makes her home in Mint Hill with her Husband and Son. After spending 15 years in the Judicial System and a couple years as a stay at home mom, she is excited to be part of the Bourgeois McGinn Builders team.  When she is not at work, Blythe enjoys time with her family on High Rock Lake, traveling to new destinations and reading a wide variety of books. She is always available to try a new restaurant, movie, activity or adventure with friends. Blythe’s goal is to be as happy and productive at work as she is at home and hope that carries over to the BMB clients. 

Lead Estimator 

Hard work and dedication are two values that Jeff learned to live by, instilled in him from a young age. This paved the way for Jeff to join the United States Marine Corps shortly after completing high school. Shaped by these experiences, Jeff was determined to continue to make a difference in the lives of those around him. Jeff has dedicated his work and education toward the finance and accounting industries, after all, he is a numbers guy. He works meticulously to provide customers with the most accurate reflections of job costs, providing estimates in both the roofing and custom home building industries. He takes pride in his work, which is demonstrated in the quality of his estimates. In his spare time, he likes to go hiking with his wife and their two dogs. He is excited to be a part of such a fantastic team at Bourgeois McGinn Builders, making a difference in the lives of those around him, one estimate at a time.

Construction Manager

Ben has been in the construction industry for the majority of his adult life.  His past roles have included Project Manager as well as Estimator at other major firms in the area.  His knowledge of the construction process allowed him to quickly integrate into our process.  Ben and his family currently reside on the south side of Charlotte.  In his free time Ben prefers to hang out with his children on the lake. 

Construction Manager

 Jay, originally from Tennessee, moved to Charlotte in the past year and has been in the construction business for six years now. Before joining Bourgeois McGinn Builders, he worked for a non-profit doing home repairs. Jay is also a talented musician and is a drummer in a band here in Charlotte. During his free time, he uses his talent in the area, but loves to go home to his wife and two dogs.

Inside Project Management 

Originally from Jacksonville Florida, Topher moved to Charlotte in 1993.  After graduating from UNCC Topher has worked for various industries. These range from Vanguard to mission critical call recording equipment. His last endeavor took him into the woodworking business where he owned and operated a custom furniture company.  Topher facilities the team in the field by assisting them with orders, schedules, and weekly updates.  we are grateful to have Topher on the team!
